Fall is here because Apple officially said so. The tech juggernaut recently announced their fresh new crop of iPhones–and yes, we’re still talking about it. In case you missed the announcement or just like having your information synthesized for you–here’s what you need to know about the new generation of iPhones.

The camera will make you ready for your close-up
Apple definitely brought it with the the new 12-megapixel camera with a f/1.8 aperture and a True Tone LED Flash. This gives you the ability to capture more uniformly lit backgrounds and foregrounds, and vibrant photos with realistic colors and stunning detail. The new camera video capture is the best yet, with better video stabilization and real-time image and motion analysis. Your selfie game will be on point too with the new Portrait Lighting. Yes, Apple actually delved into the science of portraiture to figure out how provide the best light for portraits. The new iPhone 8 can understand your facial structure and add lighting over contours of the face.

The operating system is from the future
iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus come with iOS 11–the famed iOS where developers can build VR apps. That’s right, augmented reality, y’all. We’re living in 2017 and Apple is in 3017. iOS 11 also features new effects for Live Photos to make them more immersive.

The colors are stunners
Don’t lie, there’s a small part of you that’s excited about the new space grey iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. There’s something remarkably chic about the color palette– or maybe it’s the seven-layer color process and stunning aluminum design.

They take charging off the chain
Your charging cord is officially irrelevant. Gone are the days where you have to choose between having your phone plugged into an outlet 4 feet away from you or scrolling through Instagram until 3AM at 10 percent battery because the cord doesn’t reach your bed. The new iPhone includes two new wireless charging mats from Belkin and Mophie.

You can officially start pre-ordering your iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus now. They will be gracing Apple Store shelves on Friday, September 22. The new iPhones start at $699 for the base model. Let us know in the comments what you think of Apple’s newest crop, and if you’re planning on picking one up.
