The National Day of Unplugging is coming up on Friday (starting at sundown, ending Saturday sundown) and we’re nervous. You, too? Glad we’re on the same page. I mean, what are we going to do without the plethora of gadgets filling our day? Here’s the silver lining: since Mr. Unplugging Day isn’t for a few days, we still have time to get some non-electronic goodies that’ll keep us busy. Here are some ideas:

Get a real, physical book – I too swear by my Kindle – but this is not the time.

Find a paperback that peaks your fancy, and bam! Entertainment. Amazon for the win (if you aren’t a Prime member yet, get on it. We promise, you’ll thank us later). In terms of where to look for a good read, the New York Times best-seller list and Man Booker Prize lists are great resources to get you started. If that doesn’t do the trick, pick up a story that is currently being turned into a movie! You’ll be in the know before all your friends. This Popsugar list has 21 options for you to choose from.

Get your coloring on – think coloring books are just for kids? Think again.

Amazon for the win here, too, with tons of options to choose from. There’s just one thing you want to keep in mind before making your purchase: how much detail do I like? Peruse through the choices, and look at how many actual lines there are for you to fill in. Then, order a beautiful set of colored pencils, and you have instant Zen.

Game time – like, actual game night status!

If you’re doing the Day of Unplugging with someone (or some people), snagging a real, tangible game is your best bet. To find which game you should be ordering, we’ve got you covered. In fact, we have a whole blog post about it. Yay games!

Did we miss anything? Let us know! Happy unplugging (on Friday)!
