In the beginning of winter, the holiday season is in full swing, so despite the cold, at least you have something to look forward to. But it’s January, so the Holiday music is off, the snow is dirty, and the temperature is still loathsome.

Cabin-fever: extreme irritability and restlessness from living in isolation or a confined indoor area for a prolonged time. See stir-crazy. Sound familiar? Sure, you may see the light of day on your daily commute, but unless you’re lucky enough to live in Miami, LA, or some other cold-averse area, on cold nights and weekends you’re at home, binging Netflix and twiddling your thumbs. Oh, and did I mention the crabby-ness it brings? Refer to the above.

So how to you remedy this ailment? By inviting your buddies over and playing some board games! Now, I’m not talking about Chutes & Ladders (though I do love a good children’s game). These are the diversions to keep you busy and your guests entertained – hors d’oeuvres sold separately.

Exploding Kittens
The full name of the game: Exploding Kittens: A Card Came About Kittens and Explosions and Sometimes Goats. The number-one most backed Kickstarter project ever: you draw a card, and if you get an exploding kitten, you’re out – unless you use a diffuse card (which include laser pointers and belly rubs, to name a few). Think of it like adult UNO.

Loaded Questions: Adult

Perfect for a get-together, the player who rolls reads a question from the color they landed on. Categories include Hypotheticals, Anything Goes, No-Brainers, and Personals. Questions can be anything from if you could change one in the course of world history, what would it be, to what’s your favorite type of deodorant? Fun times!

Cards Against Humanity
Okay, I know you’ve probably played this before, but it has to be included just in case you’re not in the know. My personal favorite anytime game, think Apples to Apples… if you have a dirty mind. Each round, one person asks a question from a black card, and all other players answers with their funniest white card. It. Is. Hysterical.

Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game
Are you a Marvel fanatic? If so, you’re going to flip over this game. Set in the Marvel Universe, defeat classic villains like Magneto and Dr. Doom. If you want to get a little more specific, you can also pick up a Guardians of the Galaxy or Fantastic Four version. Nerd out hard and be the hero! You know you want to.

Sushi Go!
This fast-paced card game is all about assembling the best combination of sushi dishes as they fly by each round. Each card has different points, and at the end of the game, whoever has the most wins. It may sound cheesy, but I can tell you from personal experience, it is SO AMUSING. That being said, how in the world do people come up with these things?

That should do it! If you’re still not satisfied though, Buzzfeed (obviously) has a huge list of even more options for you to choose from.

Happy (board) gaming!
